Behind Opaper

Opaper was born from the vision of Joanathan McIntosh, a former product manager at a leading tech company in Silicon Valley. Joan’s decision to return to Indonesia marked the beginning of Opaper’s journey.

Back home, she witnessed the explosive growth of e-commerce, where individuals were tapping into platforms like Instagram and WhatsApp to sell their products.

But Joan also saw the challenges that came with running a business through these channels—challenges that echoed her own experiences during college when she ran a small home-based bakery.

Back then, she’d wake up in the early hours—three or four AM—to work in a commercial kitchen, personally delivering orders to customers while juggling her studies. Everything was done manually, from production to delivery.

This hands-on experience gave Joan a deep understanding of the struggles small business owners face in managing their operations. She realized that social commerce in Indonesia was still far from efficient.

"Why are so many processes still stuck in manual mode, from payments to sending proof of transactions?"

She wondered.

With her tech background, Joan saw an opportunity to create a solution that could automate various business processes.

Her idea was simple yet powerful
